Sol Maria “Sunny” Santiago came to Grace because, as she puts it, “Adversity hit, and I needed a place that would help me find my way again.” Sunny lost her job of 33 years four days before Christmas. Because she had worked with the company for more than 30 years, she was not laid off; she was technically retired. At 53 years old, Sunny was too young to receive a pension or retirement benefits and had zero savings. After going on dozens of job interviews in one year, it became obvious that her age and limited computer skills were hindering her from getting a job.
